University of Leeds contextual offers

University of Leeds makes contextual offers (lower entry requirements) to applicants whose background may have limited their opportunities. Here's who qualifies for 2027 entry and how much lower the offer is.

Who is eligible for a contextual offer at University of Leeds?

To be considered for a contextual offer from University of Leeds you need 'home' fee status, plus at least two of the following: being first in your family at university, a low-participation or high-deprivation postcode, (a household income under about £25,000 or free school meals), a widening-participation school, (caring responsibilities, disrupted education, estrangement from your parents, a disability or long-term health condition, an armed-forces background or refugee or asylum-seeker status) and care experience.

Everyone must:

• Have 'home' (UK) fee status

Then you need at least two of these:

• Would be the first generation in your family to go to university
• Live in a low-participation or high-deprivation area (quintile 1-2 under IMD, WIMD, NIMDM, SIMD, POLAR4 or TUNDRA)
• Any one of:
  • Have a household income below about £25,000 a year
  • Have been eligible for free school meals
• Attend a school or college with low progression to university, low results, or on the university's widening-participation list
• Any one of:
  • Have caring responsibilities (a young carer, a parent, or similar)
  • Have had your education significantly disrupted (bereavement, serious illness, family breakdown or similar)
  • Are estranged from your parents or guardians
  • Have a disability, learning difference or long-term health condition
  • Are from an armed-forces family, or are a veteran or service leaver
  • Have refugee, asylum-seeker or humanitarian-protection status (you or your family)
• Are care-experienced or a care leaver

Criteria based on where you live are worked out from your home postcode, which the checker looks up for you. Each link above explains what the criterion means.

University of Leeds's official policy

This page summarises University of Leeds's published contextual offer policy. Meeting the criteria means University of Leeds may make you a contextual offer; it doesn't guarantee one, and some courses (often medicine, dentistry and other heavily oversubscribed courses) can have their own rules. Always check the university's own policy before relying on it.
